Structure Pattern

Explanation

(zhe) after a verb indicates a continuing state resulting from an action. Unlike (progressive action happening now), describes the maintained state AFTER an action. "The door is open" (ongoing state) vs. "I am opening the door" (action in progress).

Common Mistakes

Common Mistake

我在开着门

Correct Usage

我在开门

info

The mistake is combining '在' (for an action in progress) with '着' (for a sustained state resulting from an action). For an action currently happening, simply use '在' + verb; '着' describes the state *after* an action, not the action itself.
